BTN at The Royal Concert Hall

Earlier in the year we put together a group of ex-BTN students to perform a short tribute to the late David Bowie.

Beyond The Noise was made up of seven young dudes from across Glasgow and Renfrewshire. Most of them had never met before but by the time they played Gig At The Grand 2016 they sounded like they had been on the road together for several months.

The Youtube video of the show even attracted comment from David Bowie’s ex-drummer Woody Woodmansey who said ‘well done guys, you did a brilliant job!!! Heroes!’

The performance also moved the not quite so famous Gary Condie at Glasgow City Council’s Partnership Team who put the band forward to close this year’s Duke of Edinburgh Awards Ceremony at The Royal Concert Hall.

Unfortunately trying to pull the seven band members back together wasn’t so easy as they are all now working on creative projects of their own. Singer Cara and lead guitarist James had gigs on the same night. Their places were filled by Kiki and Janne who both worked incredibly hard to fill the gaps.

The band were again outstanding on the night playing the show out with Bowie’s ‘Five Years’ and ‘Heroes’.

“Performing in such an amazing venue to such a large audience was an incredible experience” said front man Stephen Rees.

A warm BTN thank you goes out to event organisers Irene and Viki from GCC.
